Welcome to the website of one of the major astro-data collectors active in the world today. If you are looking for accurate information such as a famous person's name or birth details for your astrological, biographical or other research project then you've come to the right place!
The Scholfield AstroData Collection
Since my mid-teens I've put my 8th-House Urania-Mars-Mercury-Jupiter conjunction to good use by researching and collecting "astro-data," i.e., the sort of information (like names, places, dates, years & times of birth) required to cast accurate astrology charts for famous or otherwise remarkable people and events. Today the Scholfield Collection contains thousands of timed astrological data.
Selections of my data have been published on my chart collection websites (Aussie Stars and Queer Stars), and I've contributed other selections of them to various other data collections which also provide resources for the study, research and enjoyment of astrology.
Data Colleagues, Reciprocal Collections, Published Work
I work with a dedicated team of professional astro-data collectors from around the world. For many years now I have contributed selections of my data to their collections, and vice versa.
For example, my data is included in Lois Rodden's Astrodatabank software (600+ data, c2000-2008); Frank C. Clifford's 2003 book British Entertainers: The Astrological Profiles (3rd edition, 30+ data) and his London School of Astrology website; Stephanie Johnson's Australian Data Collection and her 2004 Solar Fire Deluxe and 2008 Solar Fire Gold software (700+ data); and GraZia Bordoni's Italian & European Data Collection. I edited the data in Frank C. Clifford's 2009 The Astrologer's Book of Charts, released in softcover and hardback editions.
Magazines, journals and newsletters that have published my research data include GraZia Bordoni's DataNotizie (Milan, Italy), Lois Rodden's Data News (Yucaipa, California), Pat Taglilatelo's Latest AstroDatabank Update (Worcester, Massachusetts: AstroDatabank Company, 2003-2008), Transit: The Astrologers' Newsletter (London: Astrological Association of Great Britain) and The Mountain Astrologer (Cedar Ridge, California).
I would like to acknowledge my gratitude to Lois Rodden (1928-2003), Frank, GraZia, Pat and Steph, and also to Scottish collector, Caroline Gerard, for their generosity in researching and sharing data with me, and for their collegiality and friendship.
Copyright
Compiling my collection is a rewarding endeavour that has cost me a lot of money, time and effort. I hold full copyright over the data in my collection, including all rights over the distribution and modification of my data in all media. My research data are my intellectual property.
Please note that my data are available "for rent" but they are not "for sale"! I collect data as a service to the global astrological community. Nobody and no company may claim any exclusive rights over my data. Anybody may publish my data as long as they follow three basic conditions of use: (1) requesting permission and receiving prior approval, and notifying me of the date and other details of publication; (2) giving me full attribution, including a hyperlink back to my website/s where possible in the case of electronic media; and (3) entering into a data trading agreement with me, paying me set fees for their commercial use, or agreeing to some other sort of arrangement.
Fees for Publishing My Data
There is no charge for personal use of my data, for example, if you download them from my websites for use in the privacy of your home. If you use them in this way then they are all yours to enjoy for free!
However, please note that I do request that you pay me a set fee if you wish to publish more than a few of my data for commercial use, generally including any public media. That means a book, CD, magazine article, website, mailing list, etc. Please see my fees page for more information including methods of payment.
Data Updates, New Data, Errata
Hopefully I will be starting up a blog to share new data this year. For now you can get updates and new data from my Queer Stars and Aussie Stars fan pages at Facebook.
The publishers of the books and software mentioned above have been authorised by me to use my data. I maintain a list of errata and updates of data in these publications.
Unauthorised Publications
I cannot vouch for the accuracy of my research data when it is published without my permission or without proper attribution to me.
Hundreds of my research data have been stolen and published on the Astrotheme website, alongside thousands of data from many other collectors, without giving us any credit (or payment) and without any sort of rating system by which the accuracy of the data can be monitored. Websites such as this one are doing a terrible disservice to the astrological community all in the name of a fast buck.
In 2009 the people behind the popular www.Astro.com (another website business selling computerised astrology chart readings) published several hundred of my data on-line in their Astro-databank section without consulting (let alone paying) me. They followed the correct procedure by crediting me as the collector, but unfortunately they have refused to link my data back to my website/s as a professional courtesy, despite my request to them to do so. Along with removing Lois Rodden's name from the title of her project, they have also mistakenly claimed copyright and redistribution rights over the data of collectors such as myself when none of us ever signed this over to them or anyone else for that matter.
Furthermore, like the Astrotheme people the www.Astro.com folk have published previously unreleased data of living persons intended only for Lois Rodden's software, not for publication on the internet, which could compromise people's privacy. I think that the people behind these websites have good intentions but to some extent they have gone about things in the wrong way. I would be happy to authorise use of my data at these commercial websites (Astrotheme and Astro-databank), and to contribute hundreds (if not thousands) more of my data to their collections (for everybody to access for free), but only if they attend to the above issues and work towards fixing the mistakes on their websites.
If you're unsure about the accuracy or quality of any data attributed to me then I recommend you contact me about it. Also, if you find any mistakes in my data in publications that I have authorised then please contact me so that I can record such errata here as a public service.
Thank You !!
