astrologer, columnist, consultant
Having studied and practised Astrology for more than two decades, I've
guided hundreds of people with personal advice based on readings of their star charts, plus I've written regular
Sun Sign columns for the public. For example, from November 2000 to September 2001, my weekly "Star Lust" column
appeared in the Sydney Star Observer, Australia's premier gay & lesbian periodical. At present
I'm writing a book that re-presents the Astrological planets as not only hetero-normative "Venus and Mars" archetypes but
also as Queer sexual personae.
astro-data collector,
publisher
Since my mid-teens I've put my Aquarian Moon & 8th-House Urania-Mars-Mercury-Jupiter
conjunction to good use by researching and collecting "astro-data," i.e., the sort of information (like names,
places, dates, years & times of birth) required to cast accurate astrology charts for famous or otherwise remarkable
people (and events). The charts are then used for the study and enjoyment of astrology.
While most astrodata collections contain European or North American
data, I also research and compile birth information for prominent folk from Asia, Australia & New Zealand, plus
the natal charts of well-known gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (gLbt) folk (see my chart collections). You may purchase these data for a small fee or I'm happy to trade them...
The Scholfield Collection now contains thousands of astrological data. Over
the past decade I have contributed selections of these data to Lois Rodden's Data News and Astrodatabank software & website (see, for example, the Ian Thorpe & Bishop Gene Robinson charts), Frank Clifford's book British Entertainers: The Astrological Profiles, David Fisher's "Data Corner" in the Transit newsletter, the Astrological Association of Great Britain's Chart
Database, Stephanie Johnson's Australian Data Collection & Deluxe Solar Fire software, and other important collections such as GraZia Bordoni's Italian Collection. Over 700 of my data will
appear in Esoteric Technologies' Solar Fire Gold software - due for release in 2008.
scholar, reviewer, writer
Being openly-gay and of Eurasian decent, I have explored these facets of my identity through academic studies of homosexuality
and ethnicity. I hold a B.A. in Modern Asian Studies (Double Major in Sinology & Anthropology/Sociology)
with Honours in Queer/Gender Studies (including a dissertation on gay & lesbian art history). I'm currently completing
a Master of Philosophy thesis about visual imagery of "heterosexual male homosexuality" in Australian political cartoons
published during the Keating and Howard years.
traveller, trekker, photographer
Cosmopolitan yet down-to-earth, I've travelled widely throughout my home-base
of Eastern Australia, Asia (where I lived for almost 3 years), and the west coast of the USA & Canada. Adventurous treks
have taken me to the mountains and lakes of Tibet & Tasmania, the rainforest jungles of Borneo & Far North Queensland,
and the coastal and river systems of China & Oregon.
I particularly like mountain-trekking (having climbed Mt Barney in Queensland, Kosiosko in N.S.W., Hua Shan in China, Kota
Kinabulu in Borneo, and Mt Anne & Ossa in Tasmania, etc).
The photo section includes various albums documenting my travels (from Tibet to Borneo, Tasmania to Cooktown, Los Angeles to Vancouver, etc) plus
a portrait gallery.
Apart from the wilderness & rural breaks, I generally live in inner-city
environments, having resided in the "global mega-cities" of Beijing, Hong Kong and Sydney; the medium size "most-liveable" cities of Brisbane, Melbourne and Newcastle, and the "trashy tourist towns" of Cairns and
the Gold Coast. I currently split my time between Brisbane and Sydney,
including regular stints on a community farm near Byron Bay.
health-freak, neat-freak, puzzle-freak
I enjoy cryptic (Times and Guardian) crosswords & Sudoku, and
studying symbols, the Tarot & Numerology. A dedicated greenie and vegan,
I also keep fit with regular lap-swimming, walking, and Hatha Yoga.
